The two-hour special, hosted by CBC personalities Wendy Mesley and Brent Bambury, will be a Canadian version of the popular Test the Nation show that has aired in countries around the world since being introduced in the Netherlands in 2001. Contestants will have a set time period to answer 60 questions in categories like math, language and logic. While the seven teams compete in the studio, viewers at home will be able to test their grey matter online or in front of the TV. The answers will be revealed at the end of the show, and viewers will be shown how to convert their results into an IQ score. The show will also reveal fun statistics about players at home and in the studio - will blondes do better than brunettes? Which province is the smartest? The questions for the Canadian show were developed by Dr. James Parker, one of Canada's foremost experts on intelligence testing and his team of psychologists at Trent University. "I'm sure my detractors say my score will be low, but we'll have to wait and see," joked Mayor Gray. "I'm just going to try to have some fun." IQ stands for "intelligence quotient." The first IQ test was developed by French psychologist Alfred Binet in 1905 as a way to identify students who needed extra help at school.
