Justice not served...ba href=/bipolar disorder/a/b doesn't sit well with Bair, either. "In our society, we have no accountability for anything," she said. "But this certainly establishes the difference between males and females, when it comes to sexual assault. This says that it's OK for a young male to have this kind of sexual experience, but it's not OK for a young female. We would certainly put the male perpetrator in jail," she said. The common-sense approach to this is talking about what happened - talk therapy is helpful, Bair said. "They are now researching how talking about what happened helps victims of sexual assault. And they are finding that just talking about it actually helps the physical and mental healing," she said. Speaking as a parent, Bair said our children need to know that those things are a crime. They need to know it does not matter what age or who perpetrated the crime - that it is a crime. "Children need to know that you can be hurt by a friend, you can be hurt by an adult, you can be hurt by somebody you know, you can be hurt by a stranger. And they need to know it's still a crime," said Bair, who teaches "Good Touch, Bad Touch." Bair encourages survivors not to make sexual assault a secret. She also says anyone who knows someone who has been assaulted should encourage that person to seek support. Call the 24-hour hotline at (706) 571-6010.
