Nursing home revolution: More personal care on the horizon

“We need to do things differently to promote independence, and value who they are and who they were.”A newly-formed Coulee Region Long Term Workforce Coalition will look at family/home approaches in its staff training, said Andrea Hansen, program manager of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Gerontology Certificate Program.

The coalition, which was formed in November, also has a goal to work on retention, recognition and recruitment of long-term care workers.Terry Rindfleisch can be reached at trindfleisch@lacrossetribune.com or (608) 791-8227.

The elderly are hit on every count.

Isn’t it time we re-arranged our priorities?

Surely, the priority is to help those who wish to spend the winter of their lives in their own homes.

The very old and the very young should be the first priority of a welfare sta...
