Pentek goes for the gold (award) in Girl Scouts

...ba href=/dementia/a/b … didn't feel the games were too hard, that they couldn't win," Utech said.

"They ask, 'Are we gonna have this again?

' They want another one." Pentek isn't part of a Girl Scout Troop because most most girls drop out of Scouts in favor of other activities by the time they reach their teens, said her mom.

Pentek, however, is what's known as a Juliette Scout, which means she progresses on a kind of independent study Girl Scout program.

As her leader, her mother supervises her and has seen her dedication to Scouts grow.

A big part of that is the example she learned from her brothers.

"That's why this meant so much to her," Sharon Pentek said.

"To achieve the highest award in Girl Scouts." Ronnafran Jakel is Pentek's Gold Project adviser, and has been working with Pentek for about two years on her award requirements.

"I have helped those Pentek children with numerous religious awards over the years," Jakel said.

"She is a very deserving person because she put her heart and soul into this project.

It was a big project.

A big, big project.

I'm very proud of her.

I'm proud I was asked to help her." Pentek said now that she has finished her project, she's going to remain a Girl Scout for as long as she can.

"I'm hoping to stick in for a couple years yet until I'm done with high school, but we'll see how it goes," she said.
