The program will be held on Wednesdays, from April 12 through June 21, from 9:30 a.m.

to 11:00 a.m.

Hazen of the Champlain Islands Parent Child Center and Julia Rice of Champlain Drug and Alcohol Services will facilitate the program.The program is based on four principles:MOTHERHOOD - the role and its expectations, health, self-esteem, and maintaining one’s identity.ALCOHOL AND DRUGS - The effects and consequences of substance abuse on women and their families, whether it be in their childhood or present lives.

But the organization is still short about $30,000.

To help, the organization's 15-hour-a-week executive director, Faye Miller, who actually works many more hours a week, offered to work for free and has been doing that since November.Miller, who works as a certified public accountant for Basin Electric Power Cooperative, said Big Brothers' financial problems have been caused by a combination of things.

Thursday at the Kilgore High School Auditorium.

The event is sponsored by Kilgore Together, East Texas Council on Alcoholism and ba href=/drug abuse/a/b, the City of Kilgore and the Kilgore Police Department.

The forum is designed to allow parents the opportunity to ask questions, to gather information and to hear what leaders in alcohol/drug prevention law enforcement have to say about the issue.

"It will also help connect parents with other parents who are facing the same tough challenges," Martin said.

"Parents will also be made aware of the resources available to help them deal with problems associated with underage drinking." "Each year about 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking," said Carolyn Martin, Kilgore Together program manager.
