In mid-April, I and hundreds of graduates of California's groundbreaking program to divert nonviolent drug offenders from prison to treatment, Prop 36, will converge on the state Capitol! As part of a large-scale campaign organized by the Drug Policy Alliance, we will demand recognition of the program's successes - and demand adequate funding so that more Californians can benefit! The Drug Policy Alliance initiated Prop 36, co-drafted it, raised almost all the funding, and led the campaign to adopt it. Now we're leading the campaign to protect it.
