In the last month, 734 sixth grade students reported having a drink.

In Franklin county, 923 students.

Lynda Lou with the Benton Franklin Substance Abuse Coalition says parents have a great influence in helping curb underage drinking, but many times, parents are the cause.

"There are parents who are allowing them the have alcohol-related parties.

It's the parents who are actually supplying a lot of the alcohol," Lou said.

Another survey question asked sixth grade students if they thought it was easy to get alcohol.

In Franklin County, 736 students said they could acquire alcohol when they wanted...in Benton County 736, "A lot of adults think, I did it when I was a kid; it was legal at 19 in the state I lived in," Lou said.
