Child sexual abuse, on the other hand, is usually committed by someone known to the child and usually more than once.

Children are taught to avoid strangers but are required to be obedient and affectionate with any adult entrusted with their care.

The fact that the offender is often in a trusting and apparently caring relationship with the child highlights how helpless the child feels about the abuse and to tell anyone.

CSA is a sexual act imposed on a child who lacks the emotional, maturational and intellectual development to understand, cope or stop the abuse.

The ability to lure a child into a sexual relationship is based on the all-powerful and dominant position of the adult or older adolescent offender, which is in sharp contrast to the child's age, dependency and subordinate position.

Authority and power enable the offender to coerce the child into sexual compliance.

There is no doubt that CSA affects the lives of victims - both as child and adult.
