Patrick Natale, D-Woburn, hosted a State House event earlier this month designed to highlight the impacts of ba href=/eating disorder/a/bs As the House and Senate continues to draft their respective budget proposals, the three Stoneham legislators observed that the rising cost of health care could be mitigated by awareness forums such as the one they held on Beacon Hill.

"ba href=/eating disorder/a/bs such as anorexia and bulimia have a tremendous impact on the mental and physical health of women, and can ultimately have an adverse effect on the health care system," said Casey.

"By simply spreading awareness about ba href=/eating disorder/a/bs, we can help thousands of residents avoid developing these conditions and needing medical and psychological treatment." Community help needed to create schools' wellness policy

In addition to these incredible concerns, millions of desensitized adolescents are unraveling in feelings of despair and isolation.

Student wellness should not only be a top priority for our districts, but should also be one for our legislators and private citizens.

A French fry is no longer a staple symbol of carefree, American iconoclastic, teenage whimsy; it is the next notch in the belt of the bulging waist of American indulgence.

District wellness policies, if well written and implemented, are the starting lines for changing this dysfunctional cycle of denial and frustration.

Policies need to have clear standards that address the long view, and should have the courage to dismiss opaque, easily ignored guidelines.

In order for this to occur, real conversations need to take place and strict policies need to be adopted by school boards.

If you do not know how your district is addressing this federal mandate, find out.

If you are a parent, ask your school site principal.

If you are a community member who is interested in the health and well being of youth, call your school district and ask for the food service manager.

Engage in this conversation.

Let your superintendent, school board and congressperson know that this is a priority for your community.
