‘A casualty of war’

Sixteen of his brother marines were killed during his tour.    Like many young men and women who go off to war, Jonathon had some difficulties in dealing with what he had been asked to do. He had dreams in which he vividly relived his combat experience. He had trouble eating, experienced flashbacks, felt paranoia and had difficulties with relationships. He also began drinking to excess. On January 11, 2007 Jonathan went to the VA Hospital in St.

Cloud, Minnesota for help, accompanied by his father and step mother. He was told that he could not be admitted that day, and was sent home.  The next day he...

Winslet wins charity payout over 'diet doctor' story

...ba href=/eating disorder/a/b charity in settlement of her libel action over a claim that she visited a diet doctor.

The English born star, 31, was not at London's High Court today to hear her solicitor, Rachel Atkins, tell Mr Justice Eady that the story in Britain's Grazia magazine last month caused her personal hurt, distress, anger and embarrassment, besides damaging her personal and professional reputation.

Atkins said the article wrongly stated - albeit in good faith - that the actress had approached a doctor for help with her weight, despite the fact that she has previously said she would not bow to Hollywood pressure of being skinny.

In the article, Dr Yi Pan discussed the treatments he offered to Hollywood A-listers at his Chinese Healing Institute in California.

Winslet, through her lawyers, immediately complained to the publisher, Emap London Lifestyle Ltd, that the article suggested she had lied to the public when she had said she refused to bow to pressure to be skinny and celebrated her curves.

Atkins said the true position was that Winslet did receive treatment from Pan for a neck injury but she did not go to him seeking any treatment for weight loss.

She added that Emap had agreed to apologise to Winslet and to pay damages to a charity of her choice together with her costs.

Winslet, who has received five Oscar nominations and five Golden Globe nominations to date and been awarded one BAFTA, said later in a statement that she was delighted the matter had been resolved and the...

Kate Winslet wins apology and damages for libel

...ba href=/eating disorder/a/bs.Kate Winslet seems to be happy with the correction and the charitable donation.

Winslet released a statement - "Grazia magazine have apologized to me in full, and admitted their story was incorrect, which gives me tremendous peace of mind.

I feel very strongly that 'curves' are natural, womanly and real.

I shall continue to hope that women are able to believe in themselves for who they are inside, and not feel under such incredible pressure to be unnaturally thin.

I am not a hypocrite.

I have always been, and shall continue to be, honest when it comes to bodyweight issues."Winslet had a very busy 2006, starring in Little Children, which netted her an Oscar nomination, All the King's Men, Flushed Away, and The Holiday with Jude Law and Jack Black.

Flushed Away recently came out on DVD and The Holiday hits the home market on Tuesday, but that's the last time you'll see Winslet for a while because she's apparently on a deserved break with no future credits listed on IMDB.
