But a true country fan knows where the real American Idol is — on USA Network going by the name of Nashville Star. Star is a little late for me, because it airs at 10 p.m. Tuesdays. However, USA offers plenty of reruns, so I can catch it at a more user-friendly hour. If you're unfamiliar with Nashville Star, shame on you. It's in its fourth season and, like American Idol, the finalists compete for a title, voted on by fans. Each week has a theme and a guest inspiration. There are also three judges. Unlike Idol, you don't have to endure endless William Hung-type auditions to get to the good stuff. Star starts with 10 finalists. There are two permanent judges, record producer Anastasia Brown and singer/songwriter... Child sex abuse is never all right...

It is our collective responsibility to protect our children and to tell them the truth that no abuse is all right
Rape, unless in a relationship, is usually committed by a stranger and only once. Child sexual abuse, on the other hand, is usually committed by someone known to the child and usually more than once. Children are taught to avoid strangers but are required to be obedient and affectionate with any adult entrusted with their care. The fact that the offender is often in a trusting and apparently caring relationship with the child highlights how helpless the child feels about the abuse and to tell anyone. CSA is a sexual act imposed on a child who lacks the emotional, maturational and intellectual development to understand, cope or stop the abuse. The ability to lure a child into a sexual relationship is based on the all-powerful and dominant position of the adult or older adolescent offender, which is in sharp contrast to the child's age, dependency and subordinate position. Authority and power enable the offender to coerce the child into sexual compliance. There is no doubt that CSA affects the lives of victims - both as child and adult.
