During his tenure at both companies, Parkinson worked on a series of successful approvals for cancer drugs.

DexCom reports on patent spat DexCom, a San Diego company that makes diabetes monitors, said the Patent and Trademark Office will re-examine four patents held by Abbott Laboratories at the heart of an infringement lawsuit.

The company said the patent office granted DexCom's request to re-examine two of the patents in February, and the other two on Tuesday.

Abbott acquired the patents in its 2004 acquisition of TheraSense.

Abbott filed a patent infringement lawsuit against DexCom in federal court in Delaware.

In February, DexCom filed a motion to stay the lawsuit until the patent office completes its re-examination of the patents.
