During the course currently available services for family members and individuals suffering from mental illness will be discussed.

NAMI is a nonprofit, grassroots organization of family members, friends, and individuals suffering from mental illness.

The primary functions of NAMI are support, education, and advocacy.

The course will also cover medications and side effects, coping skills, handling crisis and relapse, listening and communication techniques, problem-solving and limit-setting, rehabilitation and community services, advocacy, discrimination and stigma.Although the course and materials are free (funded in part by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health), registration is required by next week.
