No refuge for the shelterless Land grabbing Serious threat to environment and ecology It is a recognised fact that life on Earth is unimaginable without trees.

When a forest shrinks it is bad news for environment and ecological balance, and hence entails risks to survival of humanity.

This concern was expressed by some lawmakers of the country.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Forests and Environment Ministry on Wednesday resented the poor recovery of around two lakh acres of grabbed forest land and strongly recommended the Forest Ministry to take immediate steps to take back the land from the clutches of the illegal occupiers.

It is a matter of concern that forests continue to shrink in this country.

The official report on millennium development goal or MDG says that it seems almost impossible to achieve the desired forest-land ratio within the targeted period owing to mindless destruction of the country's forests including illegal logging.

Forests cover only 10.2 per cent of the land area of the country and only six per cent of the total land area has actual tree cover, while the recommended coverage is at least 20 per cent.

A nexus of officials and employees of the forest department is responsible for robbing the country of its natural resources.

Hundreds are minor, some are significant, such as launching a project or hiring staff, and a few are momentous, such as launching an enterprise or restructuring a company.

Decision making is at the heart of virtually all management work and is a key driver of organisational performance.

And uncertainty is ubiquitous in almost all managerial decisions. In The Functions of the Executive, Chester Barnard describes managerial decisions as a "choice of means to accomplish ends which are not personal".

In line with this, I define management decisions as those moments when an individual with organisational responsibility faces a discrete, tangible and realistic opportunity to commit enterprise resources to one course or another on behalf of the enterprise's objectives. For most managers, the decision-making tools at these moments are pretty sound.

We all have a few built-in bugs - design flaws of the mind - that can have big consequences, but we do not usually follow the lead lemming over the cliff.

- With storm season upon us, many people have been wondering about adding shelters or safe rooms to their homes. Those options can be expensive, but many consider it to be an investment that can save lives during severe weather.

American Storm Cellar and Tornado Shelters is just one company in the River Valley that builds storm cellars and safe rooms. The storm cellars go in the ground, and they start at about $2,000.

They range in size depending on the number of people they're meant to protect during a tornado.Safe rooms are a bit more expensive, starting at about $2,600.

These steel structures can be installed either indoors or outdoors as long as there is a concrete slab.

They are bolted into the concrete with 3,000-pound stress anchor bolts and are known to be able to withstand an F5 tornado."(The) most important thing is to be able to be safe and to have the security to know that you're going to have something to protect yourself in," said Allie Egan, who sells safe rooms. However, if you thi...
